Pennsic is mad!  Last year there were 14,000 people from the Society for Creative Anachronism camping out recreating some bit of history between 800 CE and 1650 CE to their own fancy.  Sometimes the recreation is Frazetta/Fellini/Fruitcake fanciful, and damn fun!  My son and his wife drove me in, and their jaws dropped seeing 10,000 people's worth of tents alongside the freeway.  We went in and I went up to register. My son said, "Oh my God, it's 10,000 computer programmers on vacation, all replaying Monty Python and the Holy Grail".  

Well, they aren't all computer programmers ................ 

But the point was well taken.  At 100F (37 C) temperatures, it was a western civilization Shake'n'Bake.
